Dr. Lalitha Subramanian
Post Doctoral Fellow, IGCS
Dr. S. Lalitha is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow under Prof. Sudhir Chella Rajan, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Madras) since April, 2017. She has been awarded a Post-Doctoral Fellowship grant by Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resources Development, New Delhi. Her research project is titled “Transfer of Technology for Youth Civic Engagement in Restoration of water bodies in Kachepedu Village, Sriperumbudur Block, Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu.” The study will reveal social, organizational, financial and technical issues in water governance with particular reference to restoration of water bodies in Kachepedu village. Lalitha will design a training module on transfer of technology to enhance youth civic engagement individually and collectively. Through mapping, administering, repairing, and reviving, she will restore the water bodies with the help of various stakeholders to ensurethat surface and groundwater will be available and may be used sustainably.
She is an Assistant Professor (on lien) in the Department of Social Engineering, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. She is an expert on community development, water governance, youth and community work, and youth migration issues. Her areas of interest are social inclusion, social entrepreneurship, water governance, youth studies, skill development and social entrepreneurship.
