Dr. Sujatha Byravan

Principal Research Scientist, CSTEP

Dr. Byravan’s broad areas of interest are science, technology and policy. Over the past several years she has been working on specific aspects of global climate change policy and also climate change policy in India. In CSTEP she works on national climate change policy, adaptation and peri-urban resilience and development.Dr. Byravan has about two decades of experience in the broad area of sustainable development, which is bolstered by her technical background and education in biology. Her Ph.D. was followed by a training fellowship from the Rockefeller Foundation in leadership and environment and development and a leadership position as the main architect and Fellows Program Director in an international environment and development organisation. She was later President of a US-based non-profit organisation working on the social and ethical impacts of biotechnology, including policy research, advocacy and education. She has to her credit several publications and has been the recipient of numerous awards including a Residential Fellowship from the Bellagio Center in Italy.
